New
Wider Shelves
As promised we have now
upgraded all our units to have the wider shelves. Our guests really seem
to appreciate them as they can now stay in bed and watch the chickens - cat
heaven!!
15/3/08
Apologies for the delay in
updating the website - we have had a few technical and camera difficulties which
hopefully are all resolved now.
Phase
2 is open
We are please to say that
the new reception and additional 8 units are complete and in use. The
change of shelving is very popular with our guests and we will be upgrading all
our units to have the wider shelves. The new reception is now in the
main building of the cattery and there is additional car parking and turning
space available. Thank you to all our clients and guests who were very
patient and understanding whilst the building work was taking place. We
had a few teething problems with the new bell (we couldn't hear it!!) and now
have the siren which works well.

Phase
2 is well under way
The new base is in and the
new units and reception have been built. The electricians are hard at work
and then we will be putting on the "Purrfect Guests"
stamp. We hope to have all the new units commissioned by early

Phase
2 is about to start
At the end of July we will
begin to lay the foundations for another 8 chalets and runs as well as a new
reception. We are hoping that the extra facilities will be in use sometime
in September. This will help us in a number of ways not least at our busy
times which seem to be coming more and more often. We will then have an
enclosed space in which we hope to let the chickens and ducks wander - a little
closer for any shorter sighted cats! This also means we will be able to
leave the gates open which will make it easier for our clients to park and turn
round. Watch this space for updates.
The
Ducks have finally arrived!!

Thanks to Mary at Potwell
Nurseries Father Ted and Dougal, Indian Runner ducks, are now at home with our
chickens providing entertainment for the cats. Their antics in their pink
hippo "pond" have us all laughing. Mary has also done a
wonderful job with our hanging
baskets.

New
Floors
Once again the floor paint
let us down so we finally decided to tile the whole cattery. We have now
completed most of the cattery; all the corridors and runs are finished with just
a few aisles between chalets left to
do.

Button
(April 2000 -April 2007)
Sadly our lovely Sheltie, Button
suffered a sudden illness from which he did not recover. He is sorely
missed.

FAB
Cattery Management Training
This year we will be running courses
for prospective cattery owners and managers for the Feline Advisory Bureau (FAB).
So don't be surprised to see some new faces around the
cattery.

What
a Family!
One for the record books. We had
our largest family to date - 8 cats. It should have been 9 but one decided
he didn't want to come and remained elusive during the others'
stay.

Annual
Maintenance
We are almost at the end of the
painting of the chalets and floors. Thank you to our clients for being so
patient whilst we gave everything a spruce
up!

The
Great Disk Disaster
We apologise for updating the site so
late this month but our hard disk died. Thanks to Andrew at PC World who
repaired the machine, recovered our data (almost all) and rebuilt the machine in
record time when our machine manufacturer took ten days to even discuss when
they would look at it. After a worrying 72 hours we were back up and
running. It has however, taken a bit longer to get everything back to
normal. Well done PC
World!!

Congratulations
One of our guests, Bilbo Baggins, (Jotunkatts Bold Leader)
a handsome Norwegian Forest Cat, won his class on both days at the Maidstone
show and is now a Premier (neuter equivalent of Champion). Congratulations
to Dave and Lotte who have worked so hard to keep him looking so
well.

Christmas
Bookings
We are already filling up for
Christmas, so if you know you will want a place please let us know and we will
book you a slot provisionally. We can add exact dates nearer the
time. Clients were disappointed last year so book early.
Family
Units
As you are aware we are sometimes able
to upgrade 2 cats to a family unit although we make no promises. However,
we have had a number of requests from clients who wish their cats to have the
extra space and superior furniture, so we are now offering the family units at a
standard price for clients with one or two cats. If you are interested
please ask for details.
"
I wouldn't be seen dead in this swimming costume"
Charlie
stayed cool in his chalet whilst watching the world go by. (Please click
on thumbnail to expand). The insulated
chalets which keep our cats warm in winter work to our advantage in the heat and
act like picnic cool boxes. Similarly the 2 foot gaps between each unit
which provide ventilation to stop the spread of infection, also help air flow
and help to keep the temperatures down.
We would like to thank our clients for
entering in the spirit of the time. The cattery has looked like a Bedouin
tent with shading hanging from the roof. Having weathered the snow and
storms this winter we have now had to contend with the hottest July temperatures
recorded. However, all our measures, shading, fans etc worked and the cats
stayed cool.
Absolutely
Fabulous Feline Photo Competition

Purrfect news. Three of our
entries into the Absolutely Fabulous Feline Photo Competition have won
a special
mention and a rosette.

Would
you credit it??
To
offer our customers more flexibility, we are now able to accept payment by debit
and credit cards.
Three
New Chickens have joined our little flock

Sadly
we lost one of our Favorelles which we have now replaced. We also took the
opportunity to add
two Exchequer Leghorns (black & white). The
chickens certainly
earn their keep, giving the cats a welcome distraction during
their "holidays". We
are having some sheep on the field for the
next month or so, to mow it for us,
which will provide another interest for our
guests.

Storm and Lightning are growing up fast and are into

work done.

Our first listing in
the "Good Cattery Guide 2006"
Purrfect
Guests is now in the 2006 edition of the
"Good Cattery Guide". Only 125 catteries in the United
Kingdom are included in the publication and
we are very pleased to have achieved this accolade.

First Snow of the winter - but the cats
stay cosy
Thanks to the fast response of Welland Timber Products,
the cattery now has fitted "windows" to keep the worst of the weather
off during the winter. Hearing the forecast that we were in for severe
weather conditions, we asked Welland to come to the rescue which they did and we
had the new "windows" installed before the snow came. The
bravest cats were able to watch the snow from their outdoor runs through the new
windows but most chose to stay in the heated chalets. Unfortunately the
chickens decided it was too cold for them and they stayed firmly indoors.

Feline Advisory Board
Listing
We are pleased to
announce that we are now an FAB listed cattery and as such will be inspected to
ensure we maintain the high standards required to achieve this status.
Purrfect Guests will also have an entry in the Good Cattery Guide for 2006 (one
of only just over 100 in the country)
New Additions to our family
We are pleased to announce our new arrivals
- Storm (grey) and Lightning (black & white). Two bundles of mischief,
who get everywhere and into everything.
